Pepperleaf

pepperberry-seedling.jpg

Used both as an ornamental as well as a bush tucker plant the  pepper berry trees (Tasmannia lanceolata) will grow to 4 - 5m and prefer a cool climate.

Two products are produced from the tree - the leaf and the berry.

Mountain Pepperleaf is from the colder southern regions in Australia.  Dorrigo Pepperleaf grows  from Port Macquarie to Coffs Harbour.

Both produce leaf and berry.  The Dorrigo berry is distinctive in shape.  The leaf of both is similar in taste and is regarded as the same thing.
